The Rush County Sheriff’s Office has an extensive history in the State of Kansas to protect and serve the 2,953 residents (2021 Census Estimate) in the geographical area of approximately 718 miles, including eight towns, as well as the thousands of travelers driving through the jurisdiction every few days. Being the only law enforcement agency in the county, the seven Kansas certified law enforcement personnel, as well as the five communications personnel, receive, respond, investigate/assist emergency calls throughout the county of all types that involve first responders from other agencies as well. This includes calls involving nine fire department jurisdictions, which consist of only volunteer personnel, as well as the EMS ambulance service, which also consists of only volunteer personnel. The Rush County Sheriff’s Office commits itself towards the goals and objectives to keep our members, other first responders, and civilians in our jurisdiction safe from harm.
