Sheriff Mark Knowles

 

A Kansas native, Mark Knowles started his law enforcement career as a Reserve Police Officer in Southeast Kansas, later becoming a Kansas certified law enforcement officer in 1999. A veteran in law enforcement with over 18 years of experience; with 9 1/2 years of this time as a paid firefighter/rescue worker also. During this time, Sheriff Knowles served in the Kansas Army National Guard as a Healthcare SGT and managed several businesses. Sheriff Knowles started with the Rush County Sheriff’s Office in 2018, being appointed as the Undersheriff in 2023 & was then appointed as the Sheriff in September 2024, later being elected to the position in November 2024.

 

 

 

 

 


 

Honoring Former Sheriff Ward Corsair

 

Sheriff Knowles and the Rush County Sheriff’s Office staff would like to thank former Sheriff Ward Corsair for his 27 years of law enforcement service to Rush County, with twenty of those years serving as the Rush County Sheriff. Because of his hard work and dedication, a solid foundation was placed to move forward in providing and maintaining quality law enforcement services to our county. In September 2024, Ward Corsair resigned after accepting a position with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and we all wish him the best in his future endeavors.
